How long does it take to clean the whole house?
Home cleaning services are one of the most common forms of business these days, with a recent study estimating that 44% of Americans hire people to clean their homes once every two weeks or more. How long does a home cleaning service take to clean the whole house? Read this article to find out!
What is a cleaning service?
A cleaning service is a great option for people who want to clean their homes but don’t have the time or inclination. Services can range from weekly or bi-weekly visits to full-time cleaning services. There are also options for one-time cleanings if you just want your home to look its best.
How does a service clean the whole house?
Cleaning services can clean your house in a hurry! A typical service will arrive with all the necessary supplies, and work quickly to clean every inch of your home. It may take a few hours, but the entire house will be spick and span by the time they leave.
It takes most service companies anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to clean the entire house. This includes vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, and floors. Some companies will also do a deep-cleaning of the carpets and furniture. The cleaner may also pick up any garbage that might have accumulated over the past few days of non-use.
Make sure you give your company a clear schedule of what you want to be done and make them aware of any special needs you have. Make sure they are well informed on how to clean corners and crevices, where to look for dirt or spills and what to do with the junk.
Does my particular home need to be cleaned in an unusual way for the service to do their job?
If your home needs to be cleaned in an unusual way for the service to do its job, be sure to let them know before they start. This can include things like needing all of the floors cleaned, walls and ceilings cleaned, or just specific areas. Some services will specifically say that they need access to specific areas in order to properly clean them.
If a service needs to come back and clean your home again because something was missed, be sure that they have an extra day on their end of the agreement so they can come back and do it right.
Things to do before your cleaning team arrives
Decluttering your home – Floors, countertops, and tops of furniture should be free of clutter. The more you pick up the more detail our cleaning will be. If your home is not decluttered, we will either exclude the area entirely if the clutter is enough that it impedes us from doing our work or switch how we sanitize and dust from our preferred method of using a microfiber cloth and hand wiping the surfaces to using a feather duster and wiping only the open area.
Dirty dishes in the Kitchen – The kitchen sink and surrounding area should be free of dirty plates and clutter. The more you pick up the more detail our cleaning will be. If the kitchen sink is filled with dirty dishes this impedes us from doing our work. If countertops are filled with clutter, we will work around the area and or switch how we sanitize and dust from our preferred method of using a microfiber cloth and hand wiping the surfaces to using a feather duster and wiping only the open area.
Bedsheets for the bed – If you need us to change your bedding, please leave your bed sheets on your bed and we will change them. Old bedsheets will be placed on top of your washer. If we do not find replacement sheets on your bed, we will simply make up the bed with the sheets already present. If sheets are not present, we will leave the bed as is.
Folding laundry – We are limited to folding only 1 basket of clothes per visit. Please leave your basket filled with clothes that need folding. We will fold items and place them in the basket. Any clothes not in a basket will not be folded. We cannot hang clothes or put clothing away.
Requesting additional services onsite – In the event we arrive at your home and you require additional services please forward your request to our offices by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling us at 214-887-3415. If a note is left behind the team will relay that back to our office. Please note we cannot guarantee the team will have adequate time to complete the additional services you have requested. Our offices would contact you to confirm whether we can complete the task or require a return visit.
Requirements – When dusting shelf spaces and tabletops, we use a microfiber cloth and hand wipe when possible. If the surface space is less than 50 % occupied, we have enough space to move items and dust in-between spaces. When spaces are overly compact or over 50% occupied, we switch to using a duster. The duster allows us to collect dust and maneuver thru the tight space. However, we always recommend putting items away so we can hand wipe surfaces as this is the best method.
High dusting – Our teams carry a two-step ladder for most areas that is enough but if we encounter a higher distance then we switch to an extender pole and use a microfiber duster to collect dust and cobwebs from high ledges.

What should I ask about when hiring someone to clean my house?
It is important to ask the person you are hiring about their experience cleaning homes of people with special needs. You should also ask if they have any discounts for clients with special needs and if they offer a guarantee on the work that they do. It is important that you ask about a few things when hiring a cleaning service. You should ask about the frequency of their visits and the hours they are available. You should also inquire about the level of care they provide and whether or not they use eco-friendly cleaning supplies. When hiring a cleaning service, you should ask about their health and safety practices. The best way to do this is to ask them if they have any certifications as a business person in the field of cleaning. You can also ask how long they’ve been certified, what kind of training they’ve had, and how often they clean.
Will they provide safety equipment to wear?
Safety equipment, like gloves and safety shoes, is the most important thing to wear when cleaning. These safety features protect you from head injuries and other accidents that could cause life-altering damage. Another important thing to ask is if the cleaning service will provide gloves, goggles, and a breathing mask. As a consumer, you will want to make sure that your house is clean. A thorough cleaning service will help to provide an extra layer of protection and wonders in the appearance of your home. However, before deciding who to hire, it is important to ask whether they will provide safety equipment for those who are going into unknown areas. Safety equipment can include masks, gloves, goggles, and other items that may be needed during the cleaning process.
How will they handle the chemicals in the cleaning process?
It’s good to know that when a professional comes in to clean your home, they will cover surfaces with sheets or towels while they work. They also won’t use chemicals you keep in the kitchen and might take those to their own car, instead of using them on your surfaces. When hiring a cleaning service, it is important that the process is handled with care. It is important to ask about how will new chemicals be stored and disposed of in the process. It is also important to inquire if they work with children or pets. When choosing a cleaning service you should ask them how they will handle the chemicals involved in the process. A company that is safe and environmentally friendly is preferable. If a company does not use the chemicals to make sure their work is lasting, then it may be best to choose another company that has better safety precautions for its employees and clients.
What should I ask about their training process?
The best place to start is by asking about the company’s training process. You’ll want to ask what the company does to train their employees before they’re put out into the field. A lot of companies are beginning to use online programs that can be completed at your convenience, but some companies still prefer in-person seminars. So ask if there is a set training schedule or if you may need to attend an in-person seminar in order for them to provide you with their best service. As with anything new, you’ll likely have a lot of questions when hiring a cleaning service. The most important question is to ask about their training process. Ask them how long they have been in business and what procedures they follow for training new employees. Looking at their training process can also help you determine which company would be the best fit for your needs.
What are some benefits of having a maid service in your home?
When hiring a maid service, you may want to ask them if they offer additional services, like pet sitting or gardening. No matter the type of service, it is important to know what your service will include before they arrive and while they are working in your home. You want to make sure that their contract states all responsibilities and has a clear end date so you know when your cleaning is done. If you are overwhelmed by cleaning duties at home, then hiring a professional might be your best bet. Hiring a maid service can provide many benefits to the household members. For example, you can leave work early and focus on other activities or put your kids to bed earlier because they will be in good hands with the caretakers of the property. You can also schedule times for yourself when you want them to clean up so you don’t have to do it all yourself.
